CROWBOROUGH ROAD

The design for the re-modelling of a mid terraced Victorian house in South London answers the brief to create a multitude of different spaces suitable for a young family without the need to have any physical separation.  The staircase between the ground and first floor has been moved to the rear of the house, connecting a family study space, a midway seating area, the family dining, kitchen and an informal living space opening out into the garden.

The new staircase extends into the existing large south facing garden, creating a beautiful window seat above the garden and looking out amongst the trees.

By moving the staircase to the rear of the house the journey between the front door and the bedrooms is taken through the kitchen and informal family room which is the heart of the home.  This allows the family the much needed interaction which can sometimes be lost in busy everyday life.
