ABOUT
EllEll Architects was founded by Elli Farrant and Ella Wright. From the start, we have worked at a range of scales: our first projects ran concurrently – a 15m² residential extension in Alexandra Palace and a 1,000m² demountable workplace in a warehouse in Perivale. That range reflects something important about how we think: we bring the same care and curiosity to every project, regardless of sector or size.
Today, we work with families, communities and companies across the UK, delivering architecture that is particular to the people and places it serves. We are a small, close and collaborative team and we believe the way we work is as important as the work itself.
Our work is informed by our collective thinking and who we are outside of our practice. We are led by our clients, listening carefully, asking the right questions and using drawings, models and material research as tools for genuine conversation.
We care about construction and materials: how things are made, what they are made from and how they feel to live and work in. Our approach is honest and tactile –choosing carefully and building with integrity.
We love what we do and that energy comes through in every conversation we have, design we sketch out and place we make.

Elli approaches every project by asking how people use spaces day to day: where they sit, how they move, what they feel. She works through drawings, models and material research and is particularly interested in the point where construction comes alive.
Elli trained at the University of Nottingham and Kingston University, where she has since returned to teach undergraduate design studio. Her earlier work spans social housing at Mae Architects and production architecture at Feilden Fowles, where she was project architect for the RIBA Southwest Building of the Year 2018. That same year she opened the studio as Elli Farrant Architects and renamed it accordingly in 2020.

Ella’s practice is shaped by careful listening: she works closely with clients to understand how a place is actually lived in, and builds proposals from that understanding outward. She cares about materials chosen honestly, used well and constructed with integrity.
Ella trained and spent six years at Coffey Architects, where she led award-winning residential work including an NLA Don’t Move Improve and two RIBA award-winning projects.
When Ella joined as co-director in 2020, the practice became EllEll: a name that reflects the partnership it is today.
